Support SHU Equestrian's Friends and Family Campaign Today!

About Our Campaign

As proud members of the Sacred Heart University Equestrian team, we are participating in a campaign to raise critical funds for our program. Our team goal is to raise $10,000 by June 1, 2017 and we kindly ask you to make a gift in support of SHU Equestrian today!

Your gift will help ensure that our program has the necessary resources to compete at the Division I level and will provide key assistance for our operating budget. Your gift will also enable our team to purchase new equipment such as chaps and shirts for our western squad and help subsidize the costs of travel and team building experiences. Every week during the Fall semester, we spent time together as a team. We had events on campus as well as a trip to Build-A-Bear and ice skating. This semester, we are planning trips to Mystic Aquarium and Escape The Room! These team bonding experiences are what make our team feel more connected each day.

We are truly proud to represent this remarkable institution and have high expectations for the future of our program. On behalf of our student-athletes, coaches, and administrators here at Sacred Heart University, thank you so much for your generosity and support of SHU Equestrian!

More About Our Team

As a program, we recently won our third straight title as IHSA Western Regional Champions and teammates Abigail Williams and Melissa Dander have already qualified to represent our team at the IHSA National Championship. Our hunt seat squad is currently leading the region and we are working to earn the IHSA Hunt Seat Regional Championship also! In the classroom, our fall team GPA was 3.4, eight riders made the Dean’s List and Coach has nominated 12 riders to receive IHSA All-Academic honors. We have also completed close to 500 hours of community service!

For the second consecutive year, our athletics department was honored by the conference with the 2016 NEC Institutional Award for academic excellence. Perhaps more impressively, SHU Athletics became the first school ever to win the award in the same year that it won the Brenda Weare Commissioner's Cup, the conference's highest honor for overall athletic excellence. Highlighted by four NEC Championships on the women’s side, we won the Joan Martin Commissioner’s Cup for athletic excellence in women’s sports for the eighth time in ten seasons. As you can see, we are proud of all the great things we are involved with here at Sacred Heart University!
